Garters, Garters and More Garters

Bonjour!

Today is such a beautiful day and I hope everyone is enjoying it! Since the Star-Telegram Bridal Show people have been calling about our selection of garters! Also, I had someone ask me what the meaning of the wedding garter is. Wow, I could not tell them right off hand, just that it was a tradition. So now, I have done a little research and this is what I have gathered... not at all what I thought it would be, prepare yourself just a tad.

Reason for the garter toss: In the 14th century, having a piece of the bride's clothing was thought to bring good fortune. In order to obtain a piece of this lucky attire, guests would grab at the wedding dress and tear off pieces of it, leaving the dress in tatters.(OH MY GOODNESS) In order to stop this practice, brides began throwing items at the guests. One of these items was the garter belt. Today, it is usually the groom who removes and tosses the garter to the unmarried men in attendance. It is a symbol which allows single men to share in the fortune (good luck) of the groom who would throw it.

I'm EXTREMELY glad we changed this tradition because we all know that the bride's dream gown must not be destroyed!!! :)

So on to the garters at de ma fille, we have a huge variety that we can order for you. One that caught everyone's eye at the Star- Telegram Bridal Show was our TCU garter. Trunk Show and Bridal Show

Bonjour!

This weekend was absolutely crazy busy with our Bridal Sale, Brides Head Revisited Trunk Show and then the huge Star-Telegram Bridal Show! My mother and I had an absolute blast this weekend, it was tiring, but every minute was worth it. Just getting to see all of these lovely brides being so happy and excited to start planning their wedding and of course finding the gown of their dreams!

Our Saturdays are becoming booked up where we are having to overlap appointments and stay later in the day to ensure that our brides have the chance to see our collection and receive the most memorable experience in finding their dream gown! Of course this makes me blissfully happy to be able to help these brides! So make sure you book appointment soon before we get completely booked up!

Now, I want to share with everyone the most popular items from the Brides Head Revisited Trunk Show. These pieces are the ones that were picked up most often, tried on and were even purchased. Here are just a few pieces...

Now, please put your hands together for the #1 item of the trunk show... style 706...

De ma fille can't wait until our next trunk show by Brides Head Revisited; which will be in June. So mark your calendars!

Now on to the Star-Telegram Bridal Show, this by far was one of the funnest things I have ever done! There was so much happiness in the Fort Worth convention center that I literally could not wipe a smile off my face :) The fashion show was incredible, de ma fille got to feature 3 gowns by Enzoani and Enzoani Blue, a gown by Tara Keely and a gown by Jim Hjelm! I just would like to share with everyone a few pictures that we were able to capture at the show!

The last is of my loving mother and me! She is absolutely wonderful and was such an amazing helper for this weekend. I love you very much Mom!

De ma fille is ready now for the next Star-Telegram Bridal Show which is August 12, 2012 at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, TX! Brides, you should definitely get tickets to go and bring your friends!

De Ma Fille Beauties: Analisa Brewer

Bonjour!

Here at de ma fille we love to show off our beautiful brides! We now have a photo album open on Facebook for our de ma fille beauties! Also, we will soon have a tab on our website to share these gorgeous portraits as well.

Today we share with you our lovely bride Analisa Brewer. She was so kind in sending us multiple shots of herself in her stunning Enzoani "Dakota" gown. She looked absolutely breathtaking and she also would like to share with you her wedding experience. Please enjoy!

HOW DID THE TWO OF YOU MEET? TELL US YOUR STORY.

We met through mutual friends through the company we work for, State Farm. We actually got set up at Joe T. Garcia's at a State Farm event in November of 2009, we went on our first date a week later and the rest is history!

DESCRIBE THE PROPOSAL:
I came home from work and came to pick him up at his apartment to have dinner with friends. When I walked in, he had rose petals scattered all over the floor and candles lit everywhere! After he proposed, he surprised me again by telling me he flew my parents in town & we went to dinner with them to celebrate! The rose petals that were on the floor when he proposed were the same rose petals that we used for everyone to throw on us when we left the reception.

TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS:
I went to several places in the DFW area with my mom and my two aunts (they all have fabulous taste!) and we finally made a decision at a really beautiful boutique in Fort Worth called De Ma Fille. For the veil, I wore my mother's beautiful cathedral length veil, trimmed with lace. It was also worn by mother's sister at her wedding!

OUR FAVORITE DETAIL OF THE WEDDING:
Oh gosh, this is a hard one! There was so much love and hard work that went into planning it's hard to pick one. All of the details that my mother and our florist came up with were stunning...some favs were the B wreaths that were hanging at the back of the church during the ceremony, the moss covered table cloth that was used on the champagne table outside during the cocktail hour & then around the table that had the bride's cake, and our 'Well Wishes' table where loved ones could write us notes. Also, we LOVED the second half of our reception when all of our friends and family had the dance floor packed for a solid 2 hours. That was EXCELLENT and most definitely memorable, a celebration we'll never forget.

WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY:
Right before my dad walked me down the aisle, he reached in his pocket and pulled out a picture of me when I was little and said, "Here's my baby girl, and she's all grown up now." Talk about pulling at my heart strings! Then my brother came over and joined us and told me to soak it all in when I walk through the doors of the church. It meant a lot to have the two most important men in my life up to meeting Mike, to share in that exciting/tearful moment with me. Mike's favorite moment was seeing me walk down the isle in my wedding dress that I wouldn't let him see until that moment!

HARDEST DECISION YOU MADE IN PLANNING:
Location! We couldn't decide if we wanted to do it in Dallas where we live, or in my hometown. We wound up doing it in Amarillo and we have no regrets, that was the right place to have it!

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AS A COUPLE?
Buying our first home! Right now we live in an apartment in the uptown area of Dallas. It's so much fun, but we're excited to settle and make a place of our own. We're looking forward to having more room so we can have a yard and get another dog, have enough rooms for our family & friends to stay in when they come see us, and of course we are excited to start a family of our own!

ANY ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDE/GROOMS?
A short engagement! We shortened ours by 2 months and it was the best decision we made. If you make it too long the planning process can drag and when you're ready to get married, just do it.

Thank you so much Analisa for letting de ma fille be apart of your wedding experience! Health, happiness, joy and love to you! Best wishes!!!
